I use plenty of them. I prefer them to the mouse/pen and it's much faster for me

Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Shift+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+N, Ctrl+Shift+N. Thats about all. Oh yeah, Ctrl+T too...

Plus all the shortcuts for the various tools. Many graphics professionals use the keyboard more than the mouse for the reason CareBear stated.

It's also easier to use the keyboard shortcuts to select the tools you want (B - Brush, E - Eraser etc...). I've even got keyboard shortcuts setup to open the programs I use most.

I use keyboard shortcuts a lot in Fireworks. I find them very handy. Things like rotate / flip object, paste attributes, vector manips (punch, union...), save as, export... Things I use a lot, but that aren't on toolbars--you'd have to navigate a drop down to get them without a hotkey.

there are also some very good cd/dvd tutorials out there, made by lynda.com and total training..a little pricey but they show you all aspects of the programs, right from the beginning..you can usally download the first few tutorials for free....they are very useful in showing shortcuts and also different ways to setup the workspace....

I use them all the time (Photoshop 7) - wouldn't want to do without.
